Simple ear wax removal, for the purposes of impacted wax alone, will no longer be available at your GP practice or funded on the NHS after 31st July 2025.
If your GP feels that you have a more complex ear condition, then they will still be able to refer you to an ENT or Audiology specialist for clinical review.
The decision was taken by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB) following a review of its Excluded & Restricted Procedure Policy. This is to make sure the services provided by the NHS are both clinically and cost effective, aiming to get the best value for money from the resources available.
